Andrew Davidson: Financial Adviser & Equity Release Specialist in Northern Ireland

My journey as a Financial Consultant started in 1993 with Pearl Assurance as a local agent. After passing the industry exams I became an Area Manager in 1995. This was a great experience for me and I built up a wealth of knowledge through the comprehensive training provided by Pearl.

In 2002 I left Pearl to join The Zurich Advice Network - my first venture as a self-employed Financial Adviser. Zurich`s training etc increased my professional knowledge still further and encouraged me to join The AXA Adviser Network where once again I increased my knowledge and financial understanding for the benefit of my clients.
The wealth of knowledge and experience I gained whilst working with these different companies has brought me, in a natural progression to where I am now, an independent financial adviser with my own practice. I felt I needed to offer my clients the widest possible choice, something not possible by working for just one company. In 2005 after looking at the options available to me I felt that there was really only was one choice. So I opened my practice under the Positive Solutions umbrella as I felt that they offered me and my clients the best deal by far.

As an Independent Financial Adviser with Positive Solutions together with their industry leading back office support and market leading technology, leaves me in no doubt that I can now offer my clients the overall quality advice and service package that they deserve.

I started to work in the Equity Release market during my time with AXA in 2003 and have steadily built on my experience over the years. I decided that this area of finance was very important to many of my older clients and so last year I made the decision to specialize more in this market. I then topped up my mortgage qualifications by passing the ER1 exam with the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) so I am now fully qualified to advise on all types of equity release.

I am firm believer in recommending local, legal advice to my client, and for the last 10 years I have worked closely with two local solicitor firms who have always looked after my clients when I have referred them for advice. J W McNinch & Son and Reavey & Co. are two of the most respected firms in my area and both practices have specialists in Equity Release legal work. To date all of the clients I have referred have been more than happy with the advice and service they received in connection with their equity release needs. Although my main client base is in and around County Antrim I do have many clients further afield.
